This is a request to support a feature of v7-- where the notes fields could be edited for security level: plainly visible or masked. To elaborate further, some entries don't have any notes & it's unhelpful to hide the contents of an empty notes field.
Instead, each entry should be editable for both Notes & Shared Notes of a v8 password entry. The v7 documentation rightfully explains a couple uses: security questions or perhaps just helpful info. By default, an empty notes screen should not be hidden, but instead indicate that it's empty.
Furthermore, as a matter of v8 features, we now have the Extra Fields which can be used to manage security questions, with variable security. However, it would be very helpful if the default entry window showed a count of the number of Extra Fields configured for the entry to avoid unnecessary clicks to view an empty pane.
Notes - The Notes field gives you a place to store some additional information. For instance, if you've been asked security questions in the account setup, you can store your responses here, which gives you the opportunity to use false answers to your security questions, making the account less likely to be exposed to fraud.
Like the Password field, the Notes field may be hidden (or scrambled) to protect your notes from spying eyes. To view your notes, simply press the Show button. To hide it again, press Hide. You cannot modify your notes while they are hidden.
